The long awaited giving feature of Fortnite is available as of update 6.31. This one offers the chance to purchase in game content with V-Bucks and send a gift to your friends. This page outlines the process for sending gifts and detail the limitations of the feature.

Before you can send a gift, you must enable two factor authentication or 2FA on your Epic Games account first. 2FA or two factor authentication is the name of the optional sign in feature that provides additional security for your account. If you want to enable it, each time you sign in using your password, you will get a one time security code that is available for a short period of time. Please keep in mind that the security code will be sent to you via the verification method that you selected in your account settings. Right now, 2FA security codes are able to be received through either an authentication app or via the email address on your Epic Games account.

When you sign in, you will be asked to enter the security code from the 2FA method that you picked (email or app). After entering the code, you will be signed into your account. Then, you will be prompted for a 2FA security code in the following situations. First, the first time you sign in after enabling the feature. Second, if you sign in using a new device. Third, if it has been more than 30 days since you last signed in. Fourth, if you recently cleared your browser cookies. Please take a note that the email address associated with your Epic Games account must be verified before you are able to enable this feature.

To enable 2FA, the first thing that you have to do is to go to the Account page. Then, click the Password & Security tab. After that, click the 2FA option that you want to unable: Enable Authenticator App or Enable Email Authentication. This one is under Two Factor Authentication header.

In case you opt to use an authenticator app for 2FA, some authenticator apps are able to be found in your mobile device app store. Some of them are Google Authenticator, LastPass Authenticator, Microsoft, and Authy.

Aside from enabling 2FA or two factor authentication, you also must reach level 2 or higher. Please enabling 2FA or two factor authentication and reach level 2 or higher so you will be able to send a gift to someone.

Apparently, not everything can be sent as gifts. There are a few of things that you are not able to gift. Those include V-Bucks, real money offers, items that not currently in the Item Shop, items that are already in your locker, some store items, including Battle Pass Tier Bundles.

Another thing to take a note is about the platform. You are able to send gifts to these platforms only: PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Android. It means, you are not able to use other than those mentioned.
